Field Trips!

I have not blogged about our past field trips so here it is!

Woo Kim Surrey (Tae Kwon Do): I enjoyed Tae Kwon Do a lot! It was a new experience that I liked and it opened me up to new possibilities in doing different ways of fitness. We kicked and punched (I liked the punching part the most :P) and the atmosphere was really nice. I really did feel like I was working to train for a black belt. I hope to come back and try it again!

Newton Arena - Ice Skating: Ice skating was fun! It reminded me a lot of elementary school because we would always go skating so it was not the first time I had done it. It is a good activity to do during winter time too. I wish we had enough time to skate though!

Panorama School of Dance: I had a blast when we did dance! I am a member of the Junior Hip-Hop dance team at our school so dancing is a favorite type of fitness that I like to do. Not only is it good for fitness, but I have a lot of fun doing it! In the Panorama School of Dance, we did contemporary, lyrical, jazz type of dance. I had never done this type of dance and I found it difficult but enjoyable overall. We managed to finish a lot of the dance routine and did cool poses! :P

Fencing: I only attended one session of the fencing classes because I was away on a trip to Edmonton. Although, I was fascinated with the concept of it. We wore masks and body armor and had pointy swords! :D I wish I had been there to attend the other two classes! Fencing is also another activity that I have taken interest in doing.

Buddy Fitness: Working with the grade 1s was so much fun! My job was to travel with the groups of kids. What was difficult was trying to get the kids to pay attention. What we did to improve this was to let them follow our example. Overall, the kids were participating a lot and were really enjoying the games and activities! I think we can improve on having more games. Because when they were in one station and the game they played was over, they would get off task and distracted, so if we provide them with different versions of the game, they would be constantly focused with the game! I was really confident in working with the grade 1s because I had done numerous volunteering experiences where I worked with younger kids. I think I showed leadership when I would try to get their attention, to listen to the person who was leading the game station.
